Your guide to visiting Britain’s undiscovered countryside.
_______________________________________________________________

If holidaying away from the ’tourist trail’ appeals, but you would still like to know you will be well looked after, Hidden Britain is for you!

Authentic experiences created locally
Each of our locations has its own stories to tell; stories you might discover by joining in the fun at a town festival, poking around an historic church, or settling in by the fire of the local pub for a hearty meal and some good conversation.

All have thought hard about how best to look after visitors, to make you feel at home, and to help you discover the beautiful, historic, charming or quirky things that make each place special.

Our locations are unusual, not least because you won’t find lots of tourists there. A ’Hidden Britain’ may be a single town (like Winchelsea in East Sussex) or the entire Swansea to Shrewsbury ’Heart of Wales’ railway line. But all have been left to speak for themselves, unspoilt, waiting for you to discover them.

Support regeneration at local level
Just by visiting, you will also be doing your bit to support the Hidden Britain project to regenerate small areas of the countryside at local level.

The result is a more meaningful, authentic and individual holiday for you to experience.

St Dogmael’s in North Pembrokeshire joins the growing family of Hidden Britain centres

The First Minister of the Welsh Assembly Government, Rhodri Morgan opened the Coach House, the hub of this new community venture to attract more visitors and offer a quality range of visitor experiences. Poppit Sands, Cardigan and Cilgerran Castles, Wildlife Centre, canoeing on the river Teifi, the Pembrokeshire coast path and many more - there’s so much to see and do. The Coach House was once part of the Rectory, next to the old Abbey. The grass roof of the modern extension shows imaginative architecture blending new with old.

The St Dogmael’s website will be ready by the end of September, for visitors wanting to plan visits later in the year, or for next year’s holidays.
