What is the Hidden Britain project?

A tourism scheme for places that are too special to remain hidden - yet too precious to spoil.

’Hidden Britain’ is a charity-run initiative to encourage tourism, to uncover lesser known areas of the countryside, and to provide a different and more meaningful experience for the visitor.

This is achieved by local communities themselves:

+ Drawing up the plans
+ Implementing the projects
+ Participating in the benefits
+ Having the support and guidance of a national network

Benefits to the local community include:

+ Promotion of local business
+ Encouragement of local employment
+ Enhancement of the local community life

If you are interested in the Hidden Britain movement and think you might like to develop a centre of your own, please contact the National Administrator David Long on 024 7689 3067 or email to davidl@rase.org.uk .

Why join Hidden Britain?

Hidden Britain provides the guidance, advice, support and experience to help realise your vision of the people who know the area best. Because of this Hidden Britain can be as flexible as necessary, providing exactly what is needed in any area at any time.

Whilst many communities are embarking on similar collaborative approaches to visitor management, Hidden Britain projects have the advantage of being part of a wider network in which a central national organisation provides support services, branding, and marketing opportunities.

We offer our members many services, some of which are listed below:

• Best practice guidance, support and advice.
• Provision of corporate identity and trademark logo.
• Marketing at national level.
• A national Hidden Britain website.
• Advice for groups on legal and constitutional issues.
• Public Liability Insurance arrangements through NFU Mutual.
• Network support.
• Network database of groups and their activities.
• Data and statistics collation and collection.
• Access to development advice.
• Provision of regional and national network meetings.

Best of all, for the first year you will have access to these services for free!
